The secret's out.
After a year and a half of mutant teenagers living in Bayville amongst humans, going to school and engaging in the occasional mutant battles over the weekend, the mutant secret has been revealed to the world, and all eyes are on Bayville as humanity watches to see what will happen in the world's first and so far, only known mutant town.
The Xavier Institute hasn't changed in its aims to teach its students to protect mutant and mankind, though humans are proving to be less than receptive towards even such goals. Still, the X-Men and the New Recruits still believes peaceful coexistence is possible, and their dream is peace and acceptance - for everyone.
The Brotherhood of Mutants, on the other hand, are still skeptical, perhaps with good reason considering the seeming death of their former leader, Magneto, during an ambush by HYDRA in the spring of 2010. Pessimistic about the potential of peaceful coexistence, the Brotherhood anticipates war to break out and they're determined to win it.
The government meanwhile, is taking a stance in the form of the Mutant Registration Act. Initially limited to Bayville for a testing period, plans are in motion to branch out further. Enforcing the Act is a team known as Omega, which claims a goal of ‘promoting peace by bringing peace of mind through regulation and registration’, but unknown to the public is the fact that it's actually a faction of HYDRA.
The secret is out.
Times are changing.
