Humankind Is Extinct

The last human beings perished just over 500 years ago, and so did the era of the human's rule over Earth. Even the animals that called the planet home began to die and mutate, corroded from war and the plague brought about by nuclear exposure. The Earth is not the same planet as it was all those years ago, almost completely devoid of intelligent life.

However, realizing that they were on the way out, the humans banded together for one last swan song. Putting everything they'd learned about science and technology to one final use, they decided to create a successor species. A species that would retake the planet once the surface finally became livable again. A species far stronger and more adaptable that they would tuck away in a safe place, leaving them to slowly develop a society even after the demise of the human race, so that one day they might take their empty place.

The problem was, the scientists couldn't agree on exactly what type of species they should make, or where the safest place to keep them would be. Not having time to argue, researcher's diverged, and three separate species were created. The winged Sols, placed in the sky. The underwater dwelling Azure. And perhaps the most mysterious of the three, the spirit-like Ghosts, who were settled deep underground.

Now, each separate society has grown. Cramped and curious about the idealistic tales the humans left behind for them, they are each starting to venture out of their small worlds to investigate the Earth's surface. Earth was far from perfect, but for the species who lived for generations in environments no bigger than a single city, it sounded like a paradise - and each leave with Utopian visions in their mind.

With none of the species having any idea about the existences of the others, or what the shattered, broken surface will really be like, how will they react to the desolate landscape and to each other? Will the three species be able to coexist? And which species will be the one to fulfill their role as the successors of the Earth, and retake mankind's lost 'Utopia?'
