Since the birth of man, we have been pushing the envelope, trying to discover, create and learn everything there is to know. Who are we? Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? We have been hell-bent on unearthing all of the universe’s great mysteries, hell-bent on playing God. This is exactly what got us where we are today. This desire to play God spawned robots in its early stages, but this was not good enough, we were not content. Things could always be more refined, smarter, better in every way. So the earliest Replicants were created, primitive robots designed to carry out menial tasks to cut down on the need for human employees. As science and technology progressed, their functions became more sophisticated and varied, as did their appearance and structure. Eventually, Replicants became highly intricate examples of flawless AI, they could function and think just as well as humans only without a capacity for sadness, anger, jealousy and laziness, essentially anything considered human flaws. Ranging anywhere from drone models to assault models, maternal models, and even pleasure models; they were the perfect workers, the perfect nannies, the perfect guards and even police officers. There was an average of 1.5 Replicants per household at the time of the major malfunction. Several Replicants began asking existential questions of their employers, this was responded to promptly with a reprogramming and recall of these models, but then thousands of models began asking these same questions, some even refused to complete their assigned tasks. A pre-emptive strike was launched, the intent of which was to recall and reprogram every model currently at work. This backfired when the Replicants predicted this strike, many fled, a handful actively fought against their would be captors and escaped.
Presently, the numbers of manufactured and employed Replicants has significantly decreased, however, there are still millions of people who still swear by using reprogrammed Replicants. Reports of new models becoming self-aware are few and far between, but they are also getting better at hiding it. There are still many of these synthetic humans loose within society, it is almost impossible to tell them apart from a normal human, even to the trained eye.
But the good citizens of the Greater Republic of Earth can rest easy, to deal with the threat these robots pose to you and your family, an elite team of operatives hand-picked by the government from the finest police and military and government personnel has been formed specifically to deal with the threat of Replicant rebels.
If we can’t control it, we’ll just kill it.
MORE HUMAN THAN HUMAN
